Tuesday 21st April . Left Kelowna about 830 this morning. Liked Kelowna but not a lot to see there. Took our time getting to Revelstoke. First stop was this weird place called VERNON. First time I have ever seen a VERNON that is attractive, interesting and a pleasure to be at! We saw Vernons denture clinic where they bring unique smiles to life! Wow! What an amazing place! 😱😂
Stopped at a Lake side town called Mara, the mountains come right down to the Lake and it was so still that everything was reflected in the water, so stunning. Decided to stop at a "ghost" town called 3 Valley Gap, bit disappointing as really just a tourism money trap. Got to Revelstoke around lunchtime. Walked in to town and had lunch. Gary had a lobster cheese sandwich, looked deep fried but tasted pretty good. Went from there to Revelstoke National Park, entered bear country! Decided to do a 5km walk and the sign says" you are entering bear country. Look for signs of active bears, make a noise and do not approach" seriously look for signs of bears! What the hell did that mean, we've never seen a bear in the wild in our lives! Luckily we didn't have to put our bear seeking skills in to play and finished our 5 kms walk with no worries. Did see a deer however and after watching a million signs by the side of the road that said "deer 6 kms" it was great to finally see one of the bloody things! Maur, you would have to take about 5 years to travel the same distance that we have because the amount of " cute" road signs would have you slowing down or stopping every 5 minutes! Remnants of the trip to Bundy with you and Mum, still scarred by that!
Revelstoke is surrounded by beautiful snow capped mountains, unfortunately the IPad had died and couldn't take many photos with it to upload, all on my camera. Look forward to showing all to you when we get home, know you just can't wait. Off to Banff tomorrow.

  1. Aaawwwh - so you never saw a bear in the woods??? Never mind, maybe later! Beautiful pics and the reflections just lovely. Are you going to try a spot of fly fishing anywhere around the place? That'd be fun. Keep on enjoying and relax. Love Deb and John xo

  2. Thanks for the Vernon update, He is wearing his unique smile right now. Vernon really is an amazing thing to behold!!!! (Thanks for adding that comment Pam)
Love the photos, just missing a couple of those unique selfies from previous days....
Those deep fried lobster cheese sandwiches sound like they have plenty of kilojoules...Trishs' cunning plan to fatten Gary up so he can't run away from the bears....stay alert Gary, and don't be sucked into any devious detours along the bear trails!!! Enjoy the drive to Banff and have a relaxing two night stay.
    Love Pam and Vernon
