Thursday 15th April. Left Montreal today. There are some crazy drivers on the roads. Some idiot nearly wiped us out just out of Montreal. If it wasn't for Gary's great driving not too sure I would be here to write this blog. This guy just decided he didn't want to be in his lane and would go around another car and in doing so gave us nowhere to go except into the concrete barrier. We slammed brakes on and beeped madly but as far as he was concerned too bad so sad. It was so frightening! However lived to tell the story. Went through Trois Riveries on way to Quebec. The road along the river was amazing, the river at Saine Anne, I think that was the name, was frozen solid on one side and running on the other. This place has these cabins that they drag out on to the river in winter and fish for Tommycod. They have these great festivals but there is still a lot of snow and ice around so it must be hard to do anything in winter. The St Lawrence River is absolutely beautiful. The small towns along the way to Quebec on the river are beautiful, very quaint. We are staying at this great place called Hotel Mont de Tour. A beautiful building with a four poster bed and jacuzzi - and very well priced. We went for a walk to find a restaurant for tea. The lady running the hotel told us that one part of Quebec doesn't like those who can't speak French - tourist - but the tourist part of Quebec is fine with ignoramus's like us! Off tomorrow to explore Quebec. From what we saw tonight it looks like an amazing city. The are these gateways between the new part and old part of Quebec with a big wall surrounding it. Looks like the Great Wall of China - and not built to keep the rabbits out!
At Newville  about 20 mins from Quebec, beautiful lakeside village. Very cold!

  1. It looks freezing!! Although Trish seems very comfortable in the last photo/video with the sun shining, looks almost warm! Seeing that ice on the river must be amazing....like something we would never see in Australia. Hope Gary learns to drive properly and doesn't put you in any more danger. Can't wait for the next episode, Love Pam and Vernon xxxxxx
