Thursday part 2! Thought I was clever adding photos in but then wouldn't let me go any further! Maur is putting me to shame with her inclusions of her photos!
After Sulphur Mtn we headed off to the Cave Basin and History. It is where the original hot springs were discovered and where the first national park started, very interesting. You're not allowed to put your hand in to feel the temperature as that may harm the snail there, it is endangered. They moved the whole springs to up near Sulphur Mtn because of that snail! Josh, you'll be pleased to know we didn't endanger the snail! We walked up a tunnel to the cave where the Indians used to meet to swim in the hot springs - did it stink! Like rotten eggs! We then went down to the Bow River Falls. Nowhere near the standard of Niagara but beautiful in their own right, more like Rapids. From there we went to Lake Minniewanka, it is just beautiful and looks like it would be very busy in summer. We has a picnic lunch whilst there, the local Safeway sells soup, hot and ready to eat. Was very yummy, cheese and broccoli! Then spent the afternoon walking the streets and following the heritage trail. Getting up early to walk up to Thunder Mtn in morning. Off to Lake Louise after that as it's not too far from Banff. This time tomorrow will be in our lake view room at the Fairmont. Promise to bore you all with heaps of photos.
