Another lovely day in Vancouver, we have been so lucky with the weather, stunningly lovely days. Headed off to Granville Island Public Markets this morning, what a great place, food, food and more food! The cakes to die for! Mind you we had to pick the day Vancouver has a "sun" run, 40,000 partake in it and all the main streets blocked off. Luckily found a very helpful policeman who helped us find a way around 40,000 idiots! Gary & I did participate in the run - for about 10 metres as we tried to cross the road! We thought we were funny, not sure the other 39,998 did! This side of Canada is very different to the East. We keep wanting to say " bonjour" and "merci" all the time but hardly anyone here speaks French, of course now that we are the experts!
Back to the Granville Public Markets, they are like a blend of the Flemington markets but 100 times better. We bought these strawberries that seriously were the size of apples, ginormous and delicious,
The Sea to Sky cheerleading international championships are on here at the moment and there are thousands of young girls with big bows in their hair, eye make up that Alice Cooper would be jealous of and beehive hairdos bigger than igloos! They are all followed around by doting Mums and some Dads, obviously a big thing here!
We are off on our big road trip in the morning so up early.

ReplyDeleteBut anyway I'll return to the language most of those others can understand. Not sure if you got the language right when you ordered the 'tasting' tray of beers at the brewery. Hope you managed to finish them off. So good you got some exercise in the fun run/sun run, I'm sure they appreciated your participation. Happy you got to Granville Island, what a bonus with all those cheerleaders (no matter how strange they looked?). Good luck on the start of the road trip tomorrow. Love Pam and Vernon
