Thursday 23 April. Woke up a bit later this morning. Went to Vistors Information Centre in Banff and spoke to a lovely girl who suggested some great places to see. Went to the gondola at Sulpher Mtn and remembered conversation with Pam and VERNON re this activity and thought if Pammy can do this so can I! Wrong! Spent the whole trip up with eyes closed whimpering like a moron! I have never been so bloody scared in my life! Pammy I think you misled me - or was it VERNON? Once we got there however I was glad I traumatised myself to do this, it is absolutely stunning! Freezing cold but stunning! The walk on the boardwalk up to the weather hut at the summit of Sulpher Mtn was brilliant.
The view from the top of Sulpher Mountain. Banff and Lake Minniewanka

  1. Well done Trish!!!! I also went up with my eyes closed! I worked out that you look at where you are going and not where you've been!!!! Very, very scary! As you say the anxiety was well worth it! We have been looking at web cams from Sulpher Mt, Lake Louise and Athabascar Glacier! All looks cold but spectacular! You are coming into some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. It won't disappoint!
The wedding was beautiful and you and Gary were mentioned a few times in the speeches, you were missed. Belinda looked beautiful and Frankie looked great too! Hamish looked very handsome and was not at all overwhelmed by all the attention! Even though his Mum and Dad got most of it. Paddy, Harry and Jack were great - such lovely boys!!
We are sleeping out at the Bird Sanctuary tonight, then attend the dawn service at Elephant Rock in the morning. It seemed such a good idea at the time, but now ...?
Anyway, love reading your blog and look forward to it each day - you are doing a great job and bringing back so many wonderful memories!
