Friday April 24th, left Banff after doing the Tunnel Mountain walk. 1693metres high! Took us about 2 hrs round trip. Walked up the side of the mountain to the summit. The views were amazing. The mountain doesn't have a tunnel through it, go figure! The Railway people thought they were going to have to tunnel through the mountain when they were building the railway to Banff however ended up not having to but liked the name and kept it! We were sorry to leave Banff as it is a lovely place. Driving to Lake Louise, we went through snow! Only 40 minute drive but when we arrived we could hardly see where we were going due to the snow "flurry" as they called it, me - it was a blizzard! Amazing. We have been to snow many times but not actually been anywhere when it snowed! We have a lake view room at the Fairmont and it looks exactly like the photos that we have seen! On the 8 th floor so the view is amazing! Beautiful place, the lake is frozen but not solid enough to go out on, although some people do. The room service guy said it will have all melted within a month and only idiots go out on it! Thankfully we are not idiots so happy to just observe. Stayed up til 1 am to call Isaac for his birthday. 9 years old, happy birthday again, our darling, hope you had a great day! It is Anzac Day here today (I'm writing this on Saturday morning, about 841am on the 25th) so we will have a drink or two for the Anzacs today. Thinking of you Dad. Pammy hope your sleep out at Currumbin went well. Hope it was warmer than here, -4 at the moment! Off to the village this morning to see what we can do today. With a lot of things still being closed, it forces us to relax a bit and bludge around. Just loving it.
The sun is out and shine today, I have taken some photos of what it was like when we got here and what it is like today but I'm having trouble with the wifi here! Only place we have had to pay for the use and the only place causing problems. So I apologise if no photos come through with this blog, especially as the subjects are amazing!
Hi guys, amazing trip - Although I'm sure the Cataract Gorge chair ride in Launceston was scarier Trish! Trish - Kath and I saw John and Paul march at the Anzac day march in Samford - and the plaques for your Dad and Uncles.
