Friday 8th May. Hard to believe that we have been here 4 weeks, do not know where the time has gone. Tomorrow we are off to Seattle for the 3rd phase of our trip, the cruise! Really looking forward to it.
Went up to Grouse Mountain this morning. Left the motel about 8am, caught the Seabus across to North Vancouver and then bus 236 to Grouse Mtn. Decided to do the "Grouse Grind" which is a 2.8kms hike up to the summit. Amazing what I'll do to not go on a gondola! It was 2.15 hrs of straight up an awfully steep mountain. There was stacks of people doing it. You can download an app that registers your time to do the walk. We didn't do that beacuse we didn't want to put the others to shame! They then put the results up on a TV with your name and time- could be another reason we didn't do it! The quickest time that day was 41 minutes! The view at the top is just amazing! They have these carvings that are fantastic and we got to see 2 grizzly bears that they have in an enclosure that have been reared since birth. We also saw an artic wolf that they have in an enclosure. Stayed up there for a bit to recover and then had to come back via the gondola! Not sure what the view was like as I sat with my back to everything, head down and eyes closed! Very frightening! Bought the shirt as well much to Gary's disgust! We have loved Vancouver, so much to see and do. Their public transport system is great as are their bicycle tracks, Brisbane could learn a lot from them.

Start of walk

so we will be able to be looking over your shoulder throughout the whole cruise....each second of each minute of each hour of each day....just so you won't be feeling too lonely!!!! Enjoy the cruise, not sure we'll hear much from you while you're at sea, the internet costs will probably be horrible and the speed totally unacceptable. Try to keep us up to date as best you can. Loving the blog so far - you have to finish with a bang!!! Love Pam and Vernon
