Friday 1st May. Sitting here in front of fire, having red wine and getting ready to put the hot tub on! Great accommodation at Whistler! Room that overlooks the mountain, hot tub next to bed, fireplace and close to town. Fantastic, we think maybe best room so far! Lake Louise definitely best view but think maybe this is best room. Left Kamloops this morning and first stop was at a lookout above Lake Kamloops, beautiful! This country is just full of the most amazing lakes, bit like South Island of NZ, just better. Pulled up at Caches Creek to get a "latte" for Gary. Not sure they had even heard of a latte. Lady goes "breakfast or lunch!" I meekly said " we just want a drink" she mumbled and walked off. Consequently we didn't get a latte there! The road from there to a place called Lillooet was the scariest I have been on for a long time. I spent the whole trip grasping the handle and leaning towards Gary, I think I nearly tipped the car over! Reminded me of trips I did with Dad where I would be driving and he would hold the handle and lean right over so he could see the speedo! But Gary did a wonderful job driving and got us here safely.
We stopped at a place called Marble Canyon, my gosh! The water in the lake was the most amazing blue/Aqua ever! Beautiful. From there stopped at Lillooet to fill up, stopped at Setons Dam, just out of Lillooet, again just beautiful. They have a salmon breeding program there, also saw 2 deer on side of road. Stopped at this lake that was blocked up with tons of logs, then at Pemberton. I really liked Pemberton but we couldn't find the public washroom so apparently it is now off our list according to Gary! It wasn't very well signed. Arrived at Whistler around 330pm. Booked in to our most amazing room and then wandered off up town to our favourite place in every town - the Visitor Information Centre. We are off to do a walk ( or hike, I should say as I often get weird blank looks when I ask about walks!) first thing tomorrow and then go up the Gondola around lunch time. Can't wait for the gondola, yeah right! I asked the lady about bears and she reckons they are very friendly here? they smile when they attack you!
So sorry we missed Tolsi's confirmation last night. I know you did a great job Pammy as her sponsor!
My goodness, it's May already....almost time to pick you two up at the airport!!!! Gary looks very comfortable in the spa, after all that exhausting driving I'm not surprised. Looking forward to photos of Whistler. Love Pam and Vernon
