Tuesday 12th May.
Woke up to the most beautiful looking day. Docked at Ketchikan about 6am and had to be off ship by 650am to go on our excursion, Wildlife excursion and crab fest! Ketchikan is such a pretty place, very touristy. Caught bus to George Inlet and boarded boat that took us through inlet. Guides were Austi, like the champagne and she was bubbly like it as well! And Ryan drove the boat. Stopped at Bald Eagles nest. Austi threw fish into water and eagle came soaring down to pick it up, amazing! From there we went and picked up one of the crab pots. It has been down for about 2 hrs and contained about 6 crabs of all sizes. They don't use these for the excursion, ours were freshly caught that day by the commercial fishermen, Dundedass crabs, absolutely delicious , sweet and juicy! Sat with a couple from Texas, Jack and Lucy. Bit miserable these two, had a bit to complain about! Lunch was great, all you could eat crab and the young girl showed us how to crack crabs properly! In crab heaven! Got back to Ketchikan about 1115am and wandered up through Creek St, the old Bordello area. A very interesting place, the buildings are all built on stilts over the water. Went from there to the pub as it was only about 1215pm and we didn't have to be back on ship til 230pm. Met a couple from Prince Edward Island in Canada, Dennis and Judy. They were from the Holland America ship that came in after us. We had a great time talking to them and having a few beers. They were on their 50th wedding anniversary trip and didn't look a day over 60! Great day
