Wednesday 6th May. Well what a day! Started off in the best breakfast place ever, an IGA that sells breakfasts, sandwiches, soups, stews coffee etc. from there we caught the free shuttle up to Capilano Suspension Bridge. Had the best time. Although the following scared the shitter out of me:
. Suspension Bridge
. Treetops walk
. The cliff walk
But I did all three and earned my "you did it certificate"! They were super scary, but whilst I didn't see anything except what was directly in front of me, I still did them! Gary actually went back and did the cliff walk twice, too much fresh air! Think it was because I went through it like an Olympic sprinter and he didn't get to see anything that made him do it again - not me! Being brave at least 4 times was enough for me. Went from there to place called Lynn's Canyon Park. The young English fellow at the hotel told us about it and how to get there. So off we go, catch the 211 to
Phibbs Exchange and the the 227 to Lynn's Park. A lovely bus driver actually stopped his bus and got off it and showed us where to catch the 211! Who would believe it! Lynn's Canyon Park was amazing, free to get into and another suspension bridge that crossed the most amazing river and falls. Walked down to the Twin Falls Bridge and then off to 30 foot pool. Had the most amazing experience there that absolutely restores your faith in human beings and makes you feel very humble. The pool, was just gorgeous and I went to a part of it that I wouldn't normally do, so I could take a photo on the IPad. I was so focused on making sure I didn't drop the IPad in to the pool that I dropped my camera! It was like slow motion, watching it fall out of my case, into the water and dropping to the bottom of the deepest part of this river! There were 3 guys standing behind me and Gary was over the other side of the river. I was just devastated, all my photos from last 3 weeks on it. Burst in to tears and the three guys were so lovely. Gary came over and decided to take all his clothes off, except undies of course and dived in to the river! He couldn't find the camera so the young fellow from Estonia, Victor, took off his clothes and dived in. He said he loves swimming and appreciated me giving him the opportunity to have a swim. He found my camera! Between him and Gary, I was just so grateful for what they did. Victor was just so humble, didn't want to be thanked, wouldn't take money to buy himself a drink, he just kept thanking me for enabling him to have a swim. Poor Gary had to wear wet undies all the way home on the bus. Reckons the water wasn't freezing but I have to wonder about that, it felt bloody cold. I have my camera back so will be making sure nothing happens to it now, luckily it was water and snow proof!
Well done on conquering all your fears of heights, so many in one day. I'm sure by now you have backed up all your photos so if you lose your camera you'll have a copy of all your photos.....good lesson learnt??!! Love the photo of you on the steps before the bridge...smiling...just!!...maybe even gritting your teeth. Well done again. Love Pam and Vernon
