Saturday 2nd May. Day two in Whistler. Got up this morning and headed off for our walk to the Lost Lake. Kept an eagle eye out for bears, still none sighted. Came upon the Lake, so it wasn't really lost as we found it quite easily! Have to wonder about those who named it! Decided to extend our walk to the lookout at Green Lake. All up we walked and hiked for about 4 extremely enjoyable hours. The weather today has been just beautiful. Blue sky, slight breeze with a hint of chill and lovely views. Had lunch and then decided to head up the gondola to top of Whistler Mtn, with great trepidation! Surprised myself by how much I enjoyed the ride. We went up 6,030 feet, and it took 25 minutes, we were told we would likely see bears but no, none again. I don't really believe they exist! Every time we go for a walk Gary starts singing " if you go down to the woods today you'll get a big surprise ! " I think it scares any off that may be around! They are still doing lots of skiing at the top of the mountain. We went into the Roundhouse Lodge and had a glass of red and looked out at all the skiers and snowboarders. The view from up there was just amazing, multiple snow capped mountains. We are off to Vancouver Island tomorrow so I don't think we will be seeing too many more snow capped mountains, at least until we get to Alaska! We have had the loveliest day. Met two young girls coming down the mountain and had a great chat with them. They took a photo of us on their phone and emailed it to me as my cameras battery has died. The batteries don't seem to like the cold and we're lucky to get them to last the day, have to charge them each night. They told us to go to the golf course at the Fairmont as there are always bears there - NO there are not! We've resigned ourselves to not seeing a bear in the wild however if that's the worst thing on this holiday, poor us! We have had the greatest time, everything going really well. Looking forward to Vancouver Island tomorrow .

  1. Lucky thing you found Lost Lake. Hope you went straight back to the Information Centre and told them where to find it? Would have loved to have seen the look on their faces when you told them....and they realised who they were dealing with!! Keep looking for bears (maybe stop Gary singing?), never know what's around the corner. Try not to lose any more lakes, enjoy the ferry to Vancouver Island. Love Pam and Vernon
